The focus of this course is distinctions and similarities between the primary transfusion related respiratory complications and the hemovigilance definitions of TRALI, TACO and TAD.

Plasma Exchange Across the Pediatric ECMO Circuit (Release date 03/07/2019) The Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) is a therapeutic methodology used in patients with compromised lung function. The focus of this course is the use of plasma exchange during ECMO in treating pediatric patients.

Whole Blood for Transfusion (Release date 03/25/2019) The use of whole blood for transfusion is back primarily for massive hemorrhage. This course reviews the history of whole blood usage, the individual blood components that are normally isolated from it and studies designed to answer clinical questions regarding the use of whole blood today.

The P Blood Group and Unexpected Anti-PP1Pk in an Eleven Week Old Infant (release date 08/21/2018). This course explores the history and biology of the P blood group and also includes a case study.

IgG Structure and Function Effect on Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn and Neonatal Alloimmune Thrombocytopenia Severity (Release Date: 05/07/2018) Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn (HDN) and Neonatal Alloimmune Thrombocytopenia (NAIT) pose significant morbidity and mortality risk. Prevention and early detection are key. Recent studies have described a correlation between immunoglobulin structure and clinical severity. Typical IgG structure and immunoglobulin structural alterations along with the study results will be presented.

FDA Draft Guidance on Platelet Safety (release date: 09/19/2017) This course review the significant elements of the FDA Draft Guidance on mitigation of bacterial contamination in platelets. This learning material also identifies the challenges for implementation of the proposed process changes and addresses how the Final Guidance may appear after public comments have been submitted and reviewed.
