CEU COURSE: SORTING IT ALL OUT: SEROLOGICAL CASE STUDIES

This course is designed to guide the learner through 3 commonly encountered serological challenges. Unexpected pre-transfusion test results, resolution and transfusion recommendations are discussed. The cases include: a work- up with 'non-specific' reactivity, an ABO discrepancy work-up and identification of anti-G in a pregnant woman.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe an approach for evaluating weak "non-specific" antibody reactivity.
  2. Select appropriate tests for resolution of ABY discrepancies.
  3. Develop guidelines for testing samples with apparent anti-D and anti-C reactivity.
