Q. Is the SUCCESS® program accredited? If so, by whom?
A. Yes. For Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits, American Red Cross Biomedical Services is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide CME to physicians. Of the twelve states and one territory requiring licensure or certification of laboratory professionals, the SUCCESS program is approved as an eligible CE provider in California, Montana, North Dakota, Nevada, Rhode Island, Tennessee and West Virginia.  SUCCESS CEU credits are accepted for certification, required by the states of Georgia and Hawaii. ARC SUCCESS CEUs are accepted for recertification of Laboratory Personnel by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Board of Certification and the American Medical Technologists (AMT).

Q. Are all courses eligible for CEU and CME credit?
A. Some courses are not eligible for CME credit. CEU credits are awarded for all courses. The courses are grouped by CME and CEU credit eligibility.

Q. How many credits do I receive for completing a course?
A. Like other CEU/CME programs, credits are determined based on 'contact hours' and these are specifically determined for each course. The number of credits associated with each course is listed in the CME and CEU course catologs.

Q. What do I need to do to get my CEU/CME credit(s) and certificate for completing a course?
A. After taking a CME or CEU course, you will need to take the Post-Test, complete a Course Evaluation, and then you will be able to print your certificate of course participation online.

Q. How do I access course materials?
A. You will need to log in to your account to launch and complete a course offering. If you do not have an account yet, you need to create a new account.

Q. Why does the account set-up request my state license number and/or national certification number?
A. This information is requested during account set-up so that it may be automatically included in your printed certificate or transcript, without requiring you to enter it each time you take a SUCCESS™ course.

Q. How much do the courses cost?
A. Currently there is no charge for courses for American Red Cross hospital customers. Red Cross customers should contact their account representative for details.

Q. Are there any computer requirements for completing courses?
A. There are minimal computer requirements.

Q. How long do courses take to complete?
A. Courses take from 30 minutes to 3 hours to complete. The number of SUCCESS™ credits or AMA PRA Category 1 credits™ equals expected completion time in hours.

Q. Can I continue a course if I was interrupted?
A.The website bookmarks your progress as you progress through courses, so you can resume at any time, from any computer. You are not penalized for completing courses in more or less than the anticipated time, but the amount of SUCCESS™ credits or AMA PRA Category 1 credits™ you earn remains the same. There is no time limit on courses or Post-Tests.

Q. What happens if I have to leave my computer before I complete the Post-Test?
A. You can save the test at any point and return to it later to complete it.

Q. Do I have to take courses online? Can I print the material?
A. You may print course reading materials and practice questions. This printed material is for your sole use and should not be shared with others. All Post-Tests must be completed online to receive CME or CEU credits.

Q. How do I see which courses I have completed?
A. A 'transcript' function is in development. In the meantime, we suggest creating a folder (online and/or hard copy) in which you can archive your SUCCESS certificates.

Q. How do I obtain a certificate of completion of a course for CEU/CME credit?
A. Log in to your account and go to the course for which you wish to get the certificate. Click on the link to 'Print the course certificate'. You must have Adobe Reader® to open this file. Adobe Reader® is free; click here to download it.

Q. If I don't pass a course Post-Test, what happens?
A. You may retake the course and the Post-Test as often as you like until you receive a passing score.

Q. How do I communicate a question or comment about a course?
A. Please send comments or inquiries via the contact us form.
