CEU COURSE- PATIENT BLOOD MANAGEMENT

The primary objective of this course is to provide an overview of Patient Blood Management (PBM), especially as it pertains to transfusion practices. The drivers promoting PBM, what such a program aims to achieve and the factors that lay the foundation for a PBM will also be reviewed. The course will conclude with a discussion of the key components that make a PBM program successful.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Define the factors driving implementation for Patient Blood Management (PBM) and the primary aims for such a program.
  2. Identify the three pillars of PBM that optimize patient’s hematopoietic state.
  3. Review key strategies for a successful PBM program.
