CME COURSE: Plasma Exchange Across the Pediatric ECMO Circuit

The Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) is a therapeutic apheresis methodology used in blood exchange. The focus of this course is the use of ECMO in treating pediatric patients. 

TARGET AUDIENCE: This activity has been designed for general, specialty, and subspecialty physicians who prescribe blood products, care for blood donors or have related interests. There are no participant prerequisites for this activity.

At the conclusion of this course, participants should be able to:

  1. Define ECMO and its clinical indications specifically for pediatric patients.
  2. Describe situations where ECMO is not indicated and why; summarize alternative treatment strategies.
