CEU COURSE: INDICATIONS FOR TRANSFUSION

Blood transfusions can never be entirely risk-free. In this course we will consider the primary indications for transfusion of red cells, platelets and plasma components.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Understand major indications for transfusion of red blood cells (RBC).
  2. Be familiar with major indications for platelet transfusions.
  3. Discuss indications for transfusion of plasma components including cryoprecipitate.
